Looking For Info About Accpac Accounting Software?

In an effort to compare accounting software, I found that accounting software can be a very confusing, but somewhat fascinating world.

One company stood out in my review and that is a Canadian-founded company named Accpac, which was purchased by a United States company in 1985. They sell accounting, CRM and business management software.

For those of you like me who don't know what CRM is, I found that it stands for customer relationship management. That is a process focusing on creating two-way communication with customers to help companies understand the needs of current and potential customers.

While all of that is interesting, my main focus is on Accpac accounting software. Accpac is part of The Sage Group and usually you will see the accounting package referred to as Sage Accpac ERP, which is a Windows-based accounting software.

Sage Business Vision, Sage Accpac ERP, and Sage Pro ERP are their three main product lines. Sage Business Vision is an entry level accounting system. It is sold primarily in Africa and Canada.

Sage Pro ERP was written using Microsoft Visual FoxPro and is available with source code. This allows user modification.

Accpac's web site describes Accpac ERP as "an advanced Web-based accounting solution built on a world-class, object-oriented, multitiered architecture." It is Windows based and can run on either Windows or Linux. It has the option of being hosed by Sage and is a multi-user, multi-currency and multi-language software. This modular design means businesses have the ability to tailor the software to meet their specific needs.

Within the Accpac ERP line, there are three different editions: Sage Accpac 500 ERP, which is basically for medium to "enterprise-level" businesses; Sage Accpac 200 ERP, which is for small to medium-sized businesses; and Sage Accpac 100 ERP for small businesses.

These systems support the Microsoft SQL Server 2000, Pervasive SQL, IBM DB2 and Oracle databases. The Accpac accounting software provides access to your accounting system using a standard Web browser of the Accpac desktop interface.

There is also Sage Accpac Options which can be combined with Sage Accpac ERP to give you even more options.

This is just a brief overview of the Sage Accpac accounting software basics. For additional information, you can go to the Accpac website. Once on the site, there is all of the information you will need. There is even an area that will match your needs to the best product for you. Happy hunting!
